Arsenal v Everton, Coventry v Fulham, EFL, and more – football clockwatch live
There is another goal at the London Stadium but it’s the visitors again! Lewis Dobbin passes the ball into the net to restore Saints’ two-goal margin. Kevin Kelsy breaks the deadlock at Ibrox. Rangers can pull within a point of leaders Celtic with victory today. West Ham pushing for an equaliser against Southampton. Going 2-0 down after 11 minutes was a shock for the Hammers but they’re now forcing Southampton back again and again. Can the Saints reach half-time still in front? More chances for Arsenal. Noni Madueke drags a great chance horribly wide when he should have at least tested Pickford. Then, a Rice dummy sets up a shooting chance for Merino but Everton block. West Ham hit back! Don’t rule out the Hammers just yet. Kyle Walker-Peters thumps home to cut Southampton’s lead in half. Three goals and not even 25 minutes on the clock. Arsenal racking up the corners. That’s five so far. Everton have won just one of their last 30 away Premier League matches against Arsenal (D5 L24) by the way while David Moyes is winless in 13 league road trips against the Gunners. Fulham within a whisker at Coventry. Still 0-0 but the visitors so close to breaking the deadline as Oscar Bobb finds Josh King, who smashes his shot off the woodwork. Everton go close again. David Raya makes a mess of a punch after coming for a corner and Gabriel has to clear off the line. Everton go close to an equaliser at Arsenal. The Toffees have responded well since going behind and Tyrique George curls an effort not far wide after his shot deflects off Ben White. Mikel Arteta looks agitated. Richard Kone has a hat-trick for QPR! Just 15 minutes gone and Swansea, who had conceded just eight goals this season, are 3-0 down. Kone, by the way, hadn’t scored since April! Remarkable scenes at Loftus Road! Wow! Southampton go 2-0 up at the London Stadium thanks to an absolute thunderblaster from James Bree. Middlesbrough must be loving this. Their two closest rivals, Southampton and Swansea, have the chance to overtake them at the top but the pair are both losing 2-0. And it could be about to get worse for Swansea… Fantastic start for QPR against Swansea. The Swans have the chance to go top but QPR have struck twice in the opening 10 minutes, Richard Kone scoring both goals. The Gunners are ahead! Well, maybe they do have their eyes on the 6-0 win that will take them top. After a run of corners, Pickford and Mykolenko get in a bit of a muddle and Konsa is there to force the ball home. A bit of a messy one but Arsenal won’t care. Does that count as their first set-piece goal of this Premier League season. At Arsenal, the pattern has already been set. The home side are on the attack, with Everton hoping to hit on the break. Gyokeres will be hoping to make the most of a rare start today and he almost gets in a the near post from an Eze cross but Jake O’Brien does well to turn the ball behind for a corner. But… West Ham can go top with a win but their task is suddenly much harder. Southampton take the lead with just a minute on the clock. Thanks Billy. Peeeeeep! Let’s go! David Tindall is here to walk you through the first half. Before kick-off, Arsenal pay tribute to their former managing director and life president Ken Friar, who died two weeks ago at the age of 92. Friar played a huge part in Arsenal’s move from Highbury to the Emirates, where there is a footbridge named after him and a statue of him as a boy outside. The rain is coming down and kick-off against Everton is next. Before the 3pm games get under way, here are the starting lineups from the other game in the Premier League at the CBS Arena. Coventry (4-2-3-1): Rushworth; Van Ewijk, Thomas, Pinnock, Dasilva; Grimes, Yirenkyi; Sakamoto, Rudoni, Thomas-Asante; Cherif. Subs: Bentley, Mason-Clark, Mfuni, Awoniyi, Onyeka, Kesler-Hayden, Torp, Gboho, Hamer. Fulham (4-2-3-1): Leno; Castagne, Affengruber, Bassey, Robinson; Larsson, Charles; Bobb, King, Iwobi; Garcia. Subs: Lecomte, Tete, Andersen, Palacios, Muniz, Cairney, Kevin, Berge, Manuel Angel. Scotland: Simon McMahon welcomes us to a soggy, windswept Fitba Corner … “Currently in Frews Bar about to walk through a literal storm to Scotland’s game of the day at Tannadice, where Dundee United ‘welcome’ Aberdeen. After a tricky start to the season, United have started to click recently, with seven points from the last nine, thanks largely to midfield trio of Cameron, Iqbal and Tait pulling the strings. Though the wind and rain might suit Aberdeen more, so anything could happen ... Other games include Rangers v St Johnstone and St Mirren v Dundee.” If they hop on a lime bike, those celebrating Arsenal Women fans in the away end at Tottenham might just make it to the Emirates for kick-off in the Premier League. The champions take on Everton knowing that the leader Manchester City have gone down to Aston Villa in the early kick-off. A 6-0 win will send them top – just saying. In the Premier League’s other 3pm game, Fulham travel to Coventry after picking up their first league win under Álvaro Arbeloa against Hull last weekend. It’s not a six-pointer just yet – or is it? Intrigue in the Championship’s 3pm games is at Loftus Road as QPR take on Swansea and at the London Stadium where West Ham host Southampton. Alessia Russo’s second-half penalty decides the north London derby and relieves some of the pressure on the Arsenal head coach, Renée Slegers, after five league games without a win. She will be pleased with how her side responded to going a goal down after Cathinka Tandberg’s headed opener, with Georgia Stanway hitting back just minutes later in the first half. Arsenal move up to 6th in the WSL, one point and two places behind Spurs, who have now lost three in a row. Manchester City lead the way with six wins out of six and face United in the derby tomorrow. WSL: Spurs do not look like finding an equaliser here. Shekiera Martinez has been a bright spark since she came on but there’s little threat elsewhere. Three minutes of stoppage time to go. WSL: Seven minutes added on in the north London derby, with Arsenal still leading 2-1. Much of that was for the treatment for Alice Sombath’s serious-looking injury at the start of the half. Premier League Aston Villa 2-1 Manchester City Championship Charlton 1-3 Norwich Portsmouth 2-1 Millwall Sheffield Utd 1-1 Derby League One Huddersfield 2-1 Wigan Luton 2-1 Leicester League Two Bristol Rovers 0-0 Swindon Cheltenham 1-0 Newport Northampton 2-0 Colchester at the Emirates Stadium It’s a big day for Viktor Gyokeres as he makes his first Premier League start of the season after setting up Arsenal’s equaliser against Bayern Munich in midweek. The Sweden striker found the net 21 times last season but has yet to score for his club this season in nine appearances, albeit mainly as a substitute. With Bukayo Saka absent, Eberechi Eze comes in on the left flank and Noni Madueke is back on the right. Mikel Merino also makes a rare start in midfield on a rainy day in north London. Everton are without Jack Grealish due to sickness, while Jarrad Branthwaite is not in the squad due to concussion protocols. David Moyes’s side haven’t beaten Arsenal in their last seven meetings home or away and are winless at the Emirates since April 2021. Arsenal (4-2-3-1): Raya; White, Konsa, Gabriel, Lewis-Skelly; Rice, Merino; Madueke, Odegaard, Eze; Gyokeres. Subs: Arrizabalaga, Mosquera, Hincapie, Timber, Havertz, Calafiori, Zubimendi, Guimaraes, Dowman. Everton (4-2-3-1): Pickford; Rohl, O’Brien, Tarkowski, Mykolenko; Armstrong, Garner; Johnson, Dewsbury-Hall, George; Barry. Subs: Travers, King, Maitland-Niles, Keane, Dibling, Norgaard, Alcaraz, Hackney, Graham. WSL: We’re into the final 10 minutes at Spurs, who have thrown on winger Olivia Holdt for Summanen in an attacking change. Arsenal have withdrawn Catley for Elisa de Almeida in a defensive one. WSL: Big chance for Arsenal to finish this off! Smith’s cross from the left is perfect for Baum to run and volley but the winger makes no contact with the ball whatsoever. Championship: We have a couple of late goals in the second tier – Patrick Bamford has equalised for Sheffield Utd at home to Derby, that’s 1-1. And it’s chaos at Fratton Park as Millwall’s Jake Cooper clears the ball into Thomas Waddington to give Portsmouth a 2-1 lead. WSL: Ona Batlle is on in place of Emily Fox for Arsenal. Spurs have taken off their goalscorer Cathinka Tandberg for Shekiera Martinez. Championship: Norwich are well on their way to ending a six-match losing streak because they are now 3-1 up at Charlton! Anthony Musaba brought out the stepovers on the right before his teasing low cross was poked over his own goalkeeper by Ivan Mesik. Premier League: There are 10 minutes to go at Villa Park and Nicolas Jackson’s double means Aston Villa are defending a 2-1 lead against Manchester City. Erling Haaland equalised for City just after half-time. Follow it live with Rob Smyth. Championship: Derby are defending their 1-0 lead at Bramall Lane with 10 men after Dion Sanderson was shown his second yellow for bringing down Femi Seriki on halfway. They still lead Sheffield Utd through Bobby Clark’s first-half strike, but Chris Wilder has brought on Jordan Ayew so, you know, watch out. That’s Alessia Russo’s second WSL goal of the season in eight games – she scored more than a goal every two games last campaign. Relief. Russo sends Kop the wrong way from the spot! She goes hard, low into the bottom left corner and Kop dives the other way. A bit of revenge for that worldie of a save a minute ago. WSL: Penalty to Arsenal! Kop pulls off a miraculous save at her near post to deny Russo. At the resulting corner, Baum hits the post and the Spurs sub Morris is unfortunate to see the ball come off her outstretched arm as Tottenham tried to clear. WSL: The north London derby has restarted but there are worrying scenes for Tottenham. Right-back Alice Sombath has been stretchered off after she challenged Caitlin Foord for the ball in midfield. It looks it could be a serious knee injury. Ella Morris comes on in Sombath’s place. Championship: A bit of confusion as Charlton have an equaliser ruled out. Charlie Kelman was just offside when Tyreece Campbell swung the cross in but it was Norwich’s Ruairi McConville who headed into his own net. They were both challenging for the ball and I think it’s correctly been ruled out. Championship: Norwich have come from behind to lead at the Valley as Mathias Kvistgaarden heads in Ruairi McConville’s cross. Charlton respond with a triple sub – Nathan Jones is not happy, or even less happy than usual. Some extra-curricular news to bring you at half-time … Gianni Infantino believes he has the support of the “vast, vast majority” of footballing nations as he seeks re-election as head of Fifa next year. Infantino told BBC Sport: “Well you know I was elected by 211 member associations from all over the world. “I think what is important is that in an organisation like Fifa, there can be different views, different points of view. “But if we are serious about democracy, about the democratic process, about believing that everyone has the same vote and the same voice all over the world, that football belongs to everyone, if we are serious about that, then we need to respect as well the views of the vast, vast majority. “I’m just coming back off Tokyo where the Asian Football Confederation has fully endorsed me. I was in Cape Verde where all African countries have endorsed me. I’m speaking to all associations everywhere in the world.” Press Association WSL half-time: Tottenham 1-1 Arsenal Arsenal did well to respond so quickly to Tandberg’s headed opener with Stanway finding a way past Kop four minutes later. Neither side are playing with loads of confidence, which is understandable given neither of them are in form. WSL: Arsenal win a corner after Blakstad crunches in, cleanly, on Baum near the corner flag. Catley’s cross is plucked out of the sky by Kop, who does well to hold on up against a few bodies in the six-yard box. One minute added. WSL: The rain is coming down ever steadier at Tottenham. Spurs’ Summanen goes into the book for a lunge on Stanway around halfway. EFL half-time scores Championship Charlton 1-1 Norwich (Kelman 10; Maghoma 35) Portsmouth 1-1 Millwall (Dykes 16og; Metcalfe 6) Sheffield Utd 0-1 Derby (Clark 37) League One Huddersfield 1-0 Wigan (Bronkhorst 34) Luton 1-0 Leicester (Wells 39) League Two Bristol Rovers 0-0 Swindon Cheltenham 1-0 Newport (McCann 5) Northampton 1-0 Colchester (Warhurst 9) And Aston Villa 1-0 Manchester City in the Premier League. WSL: Former Gunner Pelova finds room to shoot on the edge of the box for Spurs and her strike is true but flies over the bar. She had more of the goal to aim at than perhaps she thought. It’s not quite clicking between Russo, Stanway, Smith and Cooney-Cross in those midfield areas for Arsenal. WSL: It’s gotten a bit scrappy in the north London derby. Pelova shakes her head in the referee’s direction after being pulled up for a foul on Russo on halfway. Fifteen minutes until the break. Premier League: Aston Villa lead Manchester City heading towards half-time at Villa Park thanks to Nicolas Jackson’s early goal. You can follow that minute-by-minute with Rob Smyth. Championship: A fine finish into the roof of the net from Paris Maghoma brings Norwich level against Charlton at the Valley. Meanwhile Bobby Clark has given Derby the lead at Bramall Lane, following up after Ryan Hedges hit the foot of the post. at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium It had been a little shaky for an under-pressure Arsenal in the opening stages of a critical north London derby. They settled a little but again failed to capitalise in the final third and Spurs punished them. Some rogue passing has seen the Gunners put the ball out of play on several occasions already and Tottenham took advantage from a corner. The visiting team sold out their allocation of 4,000 tickets and the fans are making a lot of noise, that the Tottenham drummer has been working hard to cut across, but they really need the players in red to match their energy and at the moment that doesn’t seem to be the case. It was Georgia Stanway and Emily Fox that were marking scorer Cathinka Tandberg on the corner but they don’t seem to even try to jump while she does. Stanway made up for it up the other end though, picking up her goalscoring form of the international break to crash it in off the bar and settle nerves a little. Just a little. Arsenal hit back! Alessia Russo picks out Georgia Stanway as she advances into the box and the ex-Bayern midfielder guides her shot on target. Lize Kop should probably do better in the Spurs goal – she palmed it into the top corner to make it look better than it was. What a leap from Tandberg, who is a lifelong Spurs fan. She beat several Arsenal defenders to Victoria Pelova’s corner and Misa didn’t have much chance of stopping the header. Renée Slegers’ problems are piling up and up and up. Spurs take the lead in the derby with Cathinka Tandberg rising highest at a corner and thumping a header past Misa in the Arsenal goal. WSL: Arsenal launch their first attack into the Spurs box as Russo and Stanway combine nicely, with the midfielder stubbing a shot at Kop, who scrambles to get it clear and out for a corner. Stanway’s shot from the edge of the box is then blocked. Championship: Oh, Lyndon Dykes. Portsmouth are level against Millwall as the striker scrambles to meet a free-kick at his near post and ends up smothering it past his own goalkeeper. 1-1. WSL: Tottenham’s Eveliina Summanen gets a nasty early one off Olivia Smith – studs on foot. It was an accident as they fought for the ball in midfield and, well, it’s a derby. Carry on. WSL: The teams are out at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. It’s a bit drizzly in London today after the carnage of storm Austen yesterday. Thankfully the wind has dropped, for the moment anyway. Spurs go into a north London derby ahead of Arsenal for the first time in WSL history. Championship: Jenson Metcalfe has given Millwall the lead at Fratton Park after a howler from the Portsmouth keeper Nicolas Schmid, who gave the ball straight to him on the edge of the box. Charlton are in front against Norwich too thanks to Charlie Kelman’s lovely finish after rounding the keeper. He pulls the John Stones ‘oh my shoulder hurts’ celebration. Sheffield Utd v Derby is the other early kick-off. Here are the starting XIs for the north London derby. Martin Ho makes three changes from Spurs’ 6-2 defeat to Chelsea last weekend, while Jess Naz is back on the bench after a long spell out with an ACL injury. Renée Slegers has made four changes from the disappointing 1-1 draw with Birmingham – Ona Batlle and Stina Blackstenius are among those to drop to the bench – and captain Kim Little misses out with injury. Tottenham (4-2-3-1): Kop; Dijkstra, Sombath, Blakstad; Summanen, Spence; Gaupset, Pelova, Vinberg; Tandberg. Subs: Panengstuen, Morris, A Nilden, Naz, Holdt, M Nilden, Hanson, Gunning-Williams, Martinez. Arsenal (4-2-3-1): Misa; Fox, Williamson, Catley, Hinds; Cooney-Cross, Stanway; Baum, Smith, Foord, Russo. Subs: Van Domselaar, Borbe, Wubben-Moy, De Almeida, Batlle, Holmberg, Reuteler, Blackstenius. Hello and welcome to coverage of the afternoon’s football across the UK. Later on, we’ll have the very latest from the 3pm kick-offs in the Premier League (including Arsenal v Everton), EFL and Scottish Premiership. Before then, our attention is on the north London derby in the Women’s Super League as Spurs host Arsenal at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. The teams will be emerging from the tunnel shortly, with kick-off at 12.45pm (BST). The Arsenal head coach, Renée Slegers, will be desperate for a result today to relieve some of the pressure on her position. The 2025 European champions have already seen their WSL title hopes all but evaporate after failing to win their last five matches. Spurs had enjoyed a decent start to the campaign but have shipped 12 goals (!) in their last two games. Tom Garry previews this one … In discussing doubts on her future Slegers has repeated her belief she can help the team. She maintained after last weekend’s draw with Birmingham that Arsenal will recover when they fix some “details and margins”. Perhaps taking on a Tottenham side who have become only the second team in history to concede six or more goals in consecutive WSL games is the perfect opportunity.
